Marinduque
Holy Monday to Easter Sunday

Legend has it that Longinus, a Roman centurion who was blind in one eye, used his lance to pierce the side of Jesus, who was hanging from the cross. The blood that spurted hit his eye and cured his blindness. In Marinduque, men and women don bright tunics, helmets, and colorful masks to look like Roman soldiers, and walk around the town from Holy Monday to Easter Sunday “searching for Longinus.”
